1930’s Hoover Dam Turbine Room

The Hoover Dam was built in the 1930s, whilst the workers were based in Boulder City thye visited Las Vegas regularly.

At the time it was the biggest civil building project in the world. The Dam produces about 4 billion kilowatt-hours of hydroelectric power every year for about 1.3 million people living across Nevada, Arizona and California.

The Francis turbines are the inspiration for this fabric. This is a ‘brick’ pattern of the Nevada-side turbines you can see if you take a tour. They are a wonder of engineering.
